*DVD Authoring at Presto

Our DVD authoring department is designed to allow us to work concurrently on several projects!

*Authoring
After all the elements have been prepared, authoring begins. Authoring is the process off bringing together all the elements and and creating the interactive links. All the source elements are imported into the computer authoring system appropriate for the project. The disc is then laid out to meet DVD specification.and format. The last step in authoring is creating the disc image.

*Approvals
Approvals are actually done incrementally to help ensure the project is progressing smoothly. When appropriate we'll story board ideas or send you screen shots. This keeps the project on track, saving time and money. After the disc image is created, we'll be able to send you a Recordable DVD for testing.

An important step is Quality control. We'll actually schedule time to work through all the features on the disc before producing the final digital master. As the project progresses through authoring we'll use computer emulation. We may make a Recordable DVD to test functionality. We recommend having a Direct Cut disc made for final evaluation. Presto has on hand machines from several manufacturers to help spot check the DVDs. When everyone's happy, you'll give us final approval to create the master that will ship to the plant.

*Production
The final stage is when we transfer the disc image to DVD-R or the DLT for shipping to the plant.

Presto uses Sonic Scenarist Professional to create its DVD Video discs and Wavelab 5 to author DVD-Audio discs. If you are trying to push the limits on what you can do with a DVD disc, Presto owns licenses to all DVD Specification books to make sure your vision is compliant with all DVD Players
